Pinguicula 'Johanna' is a beautiful Mexican butterwort hybrid known for its compact rosette, easy-going nature, and attractive coloration. Under strong lighting, the leaves can develop shades of pink, purple, and lavender, making it a standout addition to any carnivorous plant collection.
This hybrid is a cross between Pinguicula agnata and Pinguicula debbertiana, combining desirable traits from both parent species. The result is a vigorous grower that remains relatively easy to care for while producing an attractive rosette throughout the year.
Each plant is sold as a small starter in a 2.5-inch clear round plastic pot. While young, these plants establish quickly and will gradually develop into larger rosettes with proper care.
Like other butterworts, 'Johanna' uses sticky leaves to capture small insects such as fungus gnats and other flying pests. This natural trapping ability, combined with its colorful foliage, has made it a favorite among both beginner and experienced growers.

Care Notes
Pinguicula 'Johanna' grows best in bright indirect light or several hours of gentle direct sun. Strong lighting encourages compact growth and enhanced coloration.
Use only distilled water, rainwater, or reverse osmosis water. Mexican butterworts generally prefer slightly damp conditions rather than constantly saturated media.
Plants are grown in a nutrient-free carnivorous plant substrate. Avoid fertilizers, enriched potting soils, and mineral-rich water sources.
As the plant matures, it may produce offsets and form an attractive cluster of plants. Given proper conditions, it can also reward growers with beautiful flowers throughout the growing season.
